Preparing Your Web PageBefore you start to design your webpge, you will have to take care of some invisible elements. Invisible because although you will use them when creating your webpage, you don't actually see them on the webpage itself. These elements describe your webpage.
They are your webpage's -
All the three are important because they are used by most search engines to classify and rank your webpage. Notice that we use the word webpage and not website.A webpage is a single page in your web site. Each and every webpage in your website should have it's own title, description and keywords.
Title
Your Title should include your primary keyword for the page. Try and put the keywords towards the beginning of your title. The Search Engines give a lot of emphasis to the words in your title when ranking your page. The Title will also appear as the link that your potential visitor will click on. You should, therefore, try and make it as interesting as possible. You have to convince your potential Customers to click on your link.
**** Do Not Write Your Title in all CAPITALS. It's so much harder to read.
Description
Most Search Engines will use your description tag as the description for your link.
So, try and write a compelling description. One that is irresistible. Again, include your main keyword in the description. A few times if you can.Make sure that your keyword is mentioned once in the beginning of your description. Try not to repeat your title in your description.
**** Use words such as FREE, You Get GUARANTEED etc. to make your description more appealing.
Keywords
You would obviously include your primary keyword in your keyword tag. Whatever you do DO NOT list down All the Keywords you can think of. Focus on the few that your visitors are using to find you. The More Keywords you list down, the less important each one becomes. Make sure that your keywords are relevant.
**** Use the Longer version of the word rather than the shorter version. For e.g. Instead of Market, use Marketing. Don't use genera words like moms, business, marketing. Be more focused - Work at Home Moms, Home Based Business, Internet Marketing.
Type your title, description and keywords in a text editor such as NotePad. When you're ready to use them, all you have to do is a bit of copying and pasting.Let's start with your HomePage.
Your HomePage has to be named Index. Some Web Hosts, however require that you use a different name for your homepage, usually Welcome or Default. So, You may want to check first.Once your are done with your Home Page. Your Logo is the most important part of your webpage, after your heart stopping sales letter. Creating a Navigation Bar
It is important that your visitors can navigate through your web site with ease. To do this, you need some sort of navigation system. The simplest is to have a simple navigation bar in your left border.
We'll be using images to create your navigation bar . Note that some people choose to turn off their browser's graphic capability. This allows them to browse faster cause images are not downloaded to their computer.
This means they will not be able to see your navigation bar. Their are two ways to deal with this -
Make sure that your images have got alt tags. The alt tag is the text that will appear in place of your graphic when a browser has graphics turned off. CoolPage allows you to do this. But you will have to upgrade to the Pro version.
You Can also create an additional text navigation bar at the top or bottom of each page which looks like this -
|Home|AboutUs|Testimonials|ORDER|ContactUs|
These are normal text links.
**** To Reduce the file size of your web pages you can use plain text links, instead of buttons, as your navigation bar. But make sure that the links can be read easily.
